The first day.
Posted by Corinne under adventures of puffin , asia , blogging , family , food , philippines , travelI guess I can’t really classify myself as a true travel blogger (maybe I’m just being hard on myself now), since I wasn’t able to update as much as I wanted to, and in addition, wasn’t able to take as many relevant pictures as I wanted to. I blame this on the sickness.
We got to Manila (or at least got settled) on Jan 19, Saturday. Sunday, there was jetlag — except for me. Monday, we went out with childhood friends of my mom. Tues-Thurs, my parents were sick. Friday, they were getting better. And I was struck down that weekend — Saturday through Monday. I can’t lie, the flu put a damper on our final week there.
But, I have pictures! (below the cut)
Sunday - my cousin and her family took us out to 7 Corners at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. 7 different stations of buffet-y goodness. Alas, the sushi guy misunderstood me when I asked for an eel roll, and I was left with eel sashimi. Decidedly NOT what I was looking for. So the eel section remained sadly on the side of my plate. There was also a chocolate fountain which my two nieces were absolutely ecstatic about — so was I!! and various treats on sticks to stick into it. Meringue on a stick. Cookies on a stick. Jalapeno on a steek! (sorry, Jeff Dunham reference there) The make your own pizza station was interesting. You got your own personal pizza — 5 inches in diameter. This was not to be my last reminder on how tiny Philippine portions are.

I tipped the guy at the lechon station so I could get more than the usual portion. This, is a double portion. That is also a very small plate. Platito, if you will. Joy! Mang Tomas!

Post buffet. Aren’t we adorable?
