I didn’t work today. Yay. I know a lot of people who did. I tend to get this craving to cook, more accurately, I get a baking itch on my days off. I had an absolutely amazing lemon meringue tart not too long ago. But I didn’t need another disaster similar to my lemon meringue pie incident (disasters for another day, another post).

So I scoured the internet (as well as many of my favorite food blogs), and came across an easy looking recipe from Katy over at Sugarlaws: Chocolate-Drizzled Oatmeal Lace Cookies.

Seriously, how yum do those look? I wish I had taken her warning about how much the cookies spread to heart. While baking, the oatmeal sheet overtook my entire baking sheet. Thankfully, due to the amount of butter in the recipe, it was relatively easy for me to detach from my cookie sheet. The first batch, I rolled into a longish log shape. Instead of a chocolate drizzle, I made a chocolate dipping sauce. I had less batter to work with for the 2nd batch, so I just made four dollops, and ended up with two longish cookies, about 4 inches wide and 8 inches long.

I have a picture for posting of the 2nd batch, I will try to remember to post soon.

i can eat white chocolate covered gummi bears for “breakfast” and no one can tell me no.

i have 2 + lbs (well, at least I did an hour ago). I can keep going till at least friday.

however, my stomach might protest mightily soon.

… is buried in a bowl of rice. Someone was nice enough to give me a link on what to do if your phone goes for a swim. The rice thing makes sense, since rice is rather absorbent. It’s been one day. 2 more days to wait.

Yesterday was Valentine’s Day. Bleh. But I got some nice flowers, and my boyfriend over for a small pasta dinner. I’ll try to remember to get pictures of the flowers, including this most curious green chrysanthemum. At least I think it’s a mum.

I’ve gone and misplaced my camera. I had some gorgeous post-snowfall shots from earlier this week. It shouldn’t be too hard to recover. It’s not like I went and took it out of the house or something.

I guess I can’t really classify myself as a true travel blogger (maybe I’m just being hard on myself now), since I wasn’t able to update as much as I wanted to, and in addition, wasn’t able to take as many relevant pictures as I wanted to. I blame this on the sickness.

We got to Manila (or at least got settled) on Jan 19, Saturday. Sunday, there was jetlag — except for me. Monday, we went out with childhood friends of my mom. Tues-Thurs, my parents were sick. Friday, they were getting better. And I was struck down that weekend — Saturday through Monday. I can’t lie, the flu put a damper on our final week there.

But, I have pictures! (below the cut)

When I have this phenomenal idea for a post (it had something to do with my recent return to exercise)… and then I get to the computer, and the internet’s gone out.

Of course, in the 10 minutes it takes me to get the thing back online — post? Lost.

Gym. New Years Resolutions/Excuses. General health. Something to do with food. Anthony Bourdain — his show is one of the best ideas for a job EVER.

I’m sure it will come back to me. I always have a ton to talk about.

Side note on the themes — still haven’t managed to pick one out yet. Curses.
